Easter Egg Hunting with the Builders Class
Our Easter egg hunt was so much fun this year! We used it as a learning opportunity to work on learning our colors. Parents were encouraged to come and help their child hunt for eggs. Everyone went home happy and with plenty of eggs! It was quite easy to make it fun and educational!!! Let me explain. First, I went and bought bags of plastic eggs in a variety of colors. I made sure I had eight different colors and an equal number of eggs per color. Next, I got stickers,

Lift High the Cross
Lately in my class, my brilliant students seem to be finding cross-shapes all over. During snack, one student announced with gleeful excitement that at breakfast she had discovered a cross in her Lucky Charms cereal. Then, of course, it caught on and all of the kids were finding crosses (and X’s, etc…). Later during center time, another of my three-year-old sweeties held up a Lego figure to show how he had made a cross. A simple figure, but I found it so delightfully signific

Spilling the Beans
Sometimes (let’s face it, most times) life in a preschool classroom can be unpredictable. There are moments that melt your heart, and times when all we can do is laugh, as otherwise we’d cry…today I was reaching for an item on the shelf, and happened to knock over a bucket of dry beans. Beans everywhere…To my pleasant surprise, several students happily came to my aid in cleaning up the mess and putting the beans back in the box. I was delighted…until the children realized wha

Tiny Helping Hands
One of the tremendous blessings of working at Trinity is getting to witness unexpected moments of compassionate student interaction. We definitely spend plenty of time working on sharing skills, or reminding students to use gentle hands and play nicely...but now and then there's a joyful surprise of genuine thoughtfulness that warms the heart. One particularly busy morning, I was distracted encouraging a friend who had a rough drop-off, and did not get to lend my usual helpin

Tower Gardening at TLA
Ms. Christie and Ms. Leonna's three year old class is growing an indoor garden this spring. Dr. Victor Payton and his wife Gwen came today to teach our class the basics of growing a tower garden...without DIRT! The Paytons helped our class plant seeds in rock wool to which the kids added vermiculite and then watered and put in a basket on our tower garden. Today, we planted lettuce, arugula, basil and swiss chard. We have room for more plants and next week we plan to add some

Come and Learn with Us
Lutheran School's Week During our Bible time, I asked each child who or what they would like to pray for. We sat together and prayed to God as a group, as we lifted up each child’s prayer request. It was truly a beautiful experience, God is so good and the power of prayer is beautiful! Puddle Jumpin' During our weather week, I created ten blue puddles for the children to jump on. We set them up outside and one by one jumped through ten puddles. We cheered and counted toget
