Easter Egg Hunting with the Builders Class

Our Easter egg hunt was so much fun this year! We used it as a learning opportunity to work on learning our colors. Parents were encouraged to come and help their child hunt for eggs. Everyone went home happy and with plenty of eggs! It was quite easy to make it fun and educational!!! Let me explain.

First, I went and bought bags of plastic eggs in a variety of colors. I made sure I had eight different colors and an equal number of eggs per color. Next, I got stickers, tattoos and a few jelly beans to put in the eggs. The eggs were separated into colors and stuffed with lots of goodies. The egg colors designated for the boys got the boy themed stickers and tattoos and the egg colors designated for the girls got the girl themed stickers and tattoos. Once the eggs were stuffed, the eggs were placed into a large bag to be hidden by my wonderful parents. Once egg of each color was placed into a larger egg and kept in the classroom. Just before going outside to hunt eggs, each child was given a large egg to open. The color of the egg that was inside the large egg was the only color egg they were allowed to hunt. Each child had a different color and each child received the same number of eggs in the end. While we were hunting, each child was focused on their color. This enabled us to have a conversation and talk about “their color”. Our Easter egg hunt was a fun opportunity to learn as well as take home lots of goodies!

If you can’t find enough different colored eggs, you can always number them and assign a number to each child. We are focusing on learning our colors and we only had eight little people hunting, so finding different colors was not an issue.

The important thing is for everyone to have fun!!! Remember the true reason for the Easter season. I will leave you with this…

This commandment was given by Jesus to his followers on Maundy Thursday at The Last Supper. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34–35)
