Lift High the Cross

Lately in my class, my brilliant students seem to be finding cross-shapes all over. During snack, one student announced with gleeful excitement that at breakfast she had discovered a cross in her Lucky Charms cereal. Then, of course, it caught on and all of the kids were finding crosses (and X’s, etc…). Later during center time, another of my three-year-old sweeties held up a Lego figure to show how he had made a cross. A simple figure, but I found it so delightfully significant that these toddlers were seeking and finding it in surprising places. Are we that excited to look for Christ? Do we notice the opportunities to see Him and serve Him every day, even in the mundane details? Let us take a cue from the kids and take joy in finding our Savior, and looking up to the peace of God surpassing understanding.

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ -Matthew 25:40
